SLINDILE MBATHA – CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST

Qualification

  • I received my Masters in Clinical Psychology from the University of Cape Town.
  • After graduating, I worked at the Military Hospital in Cape Town for 3 years.
  • Registered with HPCSA

“My interest in psychology stemmed from a desire to understand myself  and people around me better and to make meaning of certain life experiences. I was always curious about others and this curiosity has grown over time to an understanding of how deeply we are connected to each other and our world. I strive to ensure that therapy is a safe space for everyone to walk their own journey and express themselves without shame or judgement. It is my hope that the space that encourages safe navigation through key life experiences while feeling empowered to grow”

How I work
I work from a Psychodynamic and Cognitive-Behavioural approach. However, the approach I take is usually determined by the needs and context of my clients. I also provide therapy in several South African languages (besides English) namely, IsiZulu and IsiXhosa.
Although a great deal of my work has focused on childhood development and adolescents, I have experience in therapy with clients across all age groups. I am able to offer therapy to individuals, children, couples and families.
